HAT TRENDING SPRING 2013 Most Popular Hats in Colorado

Most HAT TRENDING SPRING 2013 Popular Hats in Colorado
The popular hat trend in the NoCo area has been knit caps or “beanies” especially on young men and boys. This has been going on in the Denver area as well for over a year. It has been such a strong trend that even my nine year old nephew showed up for Mother’s Day with a knit cap and wore it all day. At least it saved his head from the sunburn that showed up on the rest of him.

The Newsboy/Pageboy  or the Cadet Cap is hot for ladies.

I am quite happy that something else besides the Stetson (or cowboy hat) and the ever more popular Baseball Cap (the last 20 years) have shown up on the heads of Coloradoans. I’ve had many unique requests for hats lately including Pillbox, Bowler (Derby), Top Hat, Dredlock Caps and “Kentucky Derby” hats.

You’ll still see a lot of the Dew hats or “Do Rags” (bandanas or leather sewn into a skull cap), the Fedora and bandanas worn around town as well as the standard Cowboy and Baseball.

The Red Hat Society ladies are making a big show in Longmont and Loveland these days and seem to like Bolero (or “Gaucho”) and Breton style hats a lot (not to be confused with a Breton Cap, which is a Greek Fisherman’s Cap). They also seem to love the big brim hats a lot, and who wouldn’t? You can put all kinds of “bling” on those.
I personally would like to see the “Grannie Cap” come back into style.

Turning a piece of garbage into pants.

Tonight I took a pair of paint stained maternity pants from the 80's and made a new pair of great pants! They were a black with white floral Rayon fabric in great shape. I cut out the damaged bits, took off the bottom layer of stitching in the waistband and cut it off. I redid the front and back centers (rises) and reattached the pants to the waist, easing the elastic band. I took out the inside leg of the hem, recut and serged the inside legs, then resewed up the hem. I added a Custom Mother lable, a Rip Club tag and hangers, then put on a hanger and on the rack. I sure hope somebody appreciates these lovely repurposed pants.
